Scope and Content
The collection is comprised of 19 printed editions of the Ridge Writer as well as 23 photographs of Ridge Writer staff from 1991, 1994, and undated years. The publications are organized chronologically in ascending order.
Biographical History
Founded in 1986, Ridge Writer, sometimes styled as Ridgewriter, was a student-led publication overseen by faculty and/or staff members designed to bring together the creative works of students, faculty, and staff of the College. Each academic year, the Ridge Writer staff would compile contributors’ poetry, artwork, and short stories into a bound volume that people could buy. Winners would be selected from among the submissions with different prizes offered each year. In the first publication, winners were chosen from among the general education, technical, and continuing education programs. Throughout the years, the competitive categories would change to focus on the genres of writing, such as poetry, fiction, and non-fiction.
